  49.       The GIMP has a large assortment of tools that let you perform a
  50.       large variety of tasks.  The tools can be thought of as falling
  51.       into five categories: Selection tools, which specify or modify
  52.       the portion of the image that will be affected by subsequent
  53.       actions; Paint tools, which alter the colors in some part of the
  54.       image; Transform tools, which alter the geometry of the image;
  55.       Color tools, which alter the distribution of colors across the
  56.       entire image; and Other tools, which don't fall into the other
  57.       four categories.

  60.       Most tools can be activated by clicking on an icon in the
  61.       Toolbox.  When this is done, a <span class="ERROR"><guiitem>Tool Options</guiitem></span>
  62.       dialog for the activated tool appears below the Toolbox,
  63.       presenting controls that alter the behavior of the tool.  Tools
  64.       can also be activated using the <span class="ERROR"><guiitem>Tools</guiitem></span> menu in
  65.       the menubar located above each image, or by using accelerator
  66.       keys whose default values can be discovered from the menu.  Some
  67.       tools, such as the Color Tools, can only be accessed using the
  68.       <span class="ERROR"><guiitem>Tools</guiitem></span> menu or accelerator keys.
